The Spot Magazine is a travel publication designed for young, independent travelers who seek to immerse themselves in the culture of their destinations. For this project, I created a 4-page spread that captures the essence of Colombia, aiming to entice readers to explore this vibrant country.
Inspired by the popular art seen in Colombia's public transportation, street signs, and walls, I chose colors that evoke the "kitsch" aesthetic prevalent in Latin America. The design reflects the magic realism of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, blending raw reality with unique cultural details. The collage aesthetic of the spreads represents Colombia’s political, social, cultural, and artistic dimensions, while also educating readers about what to expect when visiting. Despite the vibrant and chaotic art, the typeface ensures readability, and the clean layout guides the reader through the content effortlessly.
